Cicily is fortunate to live in a vibrant and diverse community with many opportunities for local action. She is past president of one neighborhood association, the Armory-Quadrangle Civic Association, and a former board member of another, the Mattoon Street Historic Preservation Association. As a MSHPA board member, she was responsible for planning the annual Mattoon Street Arts Festival, now in its 39th year. She was corporate clerk of nearby Open Pantry Community Services, up until its merger with the South Middlesex Opportunity Council. She has also served as a member of the Springfield Central Library Advisory Committee.

Cicily lives just 20 miles away from her alma mater, Smith College, and has served as a board member of its flagship alumnae club, the Hampshire County Smith Club. She belongs to a local reading group, the Downtown Book Ladies, and two local writing groups, the Wednesday poets and the Noho Screenwriter's Workshop.
